Custom Set Design

This set, designed and built for a PBS kids series, is a great example of our set design and construction services!  The attention to detail is the greatest part of this particular set.  

While obviously done in a cartoonish fashion, the colors and shapes were chosen to be aesthetically pleasing towards children, keeping their attention on the show.

The set contains a red door which serves as a focal point, and it also brings light into the unusual window that surrounds it. This was also created for a child’s perspective because it is not normally found in a home.  The addition of the musical instruments on the side of the set is considered a filler by most adults but to children it is a sign of things to come.  The set is visually attractive to a child’s mindset, and it heightens the child’s interaction with the show.

Ready to escape to your island paradise? This custom designed set was created with a bit of tropical flare for an energy drink shoot.

The detailing is always a key component when designing a set.  Please note the tropical atmosphere with the palm trees and the other greenery around the set.  Another key point is the mirror in the background containing the tribal etching and the totem pole next to it.  These key factors increase the sets exotic ideal location.

Now for the flare that we were talking about.  You may have noticed the flames in the front of the set.  While the attention to detail on the design, color, and formation of flames is well noted the flames themselves would not make much sense on this set if the addition of the lava flow was not observed.  

Now the scene comes together where the tropical paradise has a volcano.

As seen in many motion pictures, the ambulance pulls up and the paramedics go to work.  Our studio has the space available for this to happen on your project with out the noise, pedestrians, and other uncontrollable circumstances.  

The full sized ambulance parked indoors with room to spare while a city apartment building is in the background.  What you do not have is the traffic of a busy city street.  The unknown pedestrians walking among the cast and crew of your project.  The sounds of the construction down the street or the honking of horns in the background.  

The most important factor in all of this is the increased safety for your cast and crew.  Filming on the street is costly, unpredictable, and in most cases dangerous.  Don’t put your cast and crew in a situation that you can not control.  We can recreate the look you want in a safe and secure environment putting the unpredictable situations out of your project.  

Custom Props

Our prop room holds a diverse selection of “on-the-lot” additions used in our everyday operations of the studio. Both film and video productions can utilize the hand props, fixtures, furniture, drapery, and hardware to create the scene of their choosing.
